The Crab Apples es una banda de indie pop-rock formada por tres amigas de un pueblo cercano a Barcelona que empezaron a crear y grabar sus propios temas cuando aún iban al instituto y que, a lo largo de una década, no han parado nunca.Desde la autogestión y la independencia, Carla Gimeno (voz), Laia Alsina (guitarra eléctrica) y Laia Martí (bajo) han publicado tres álbumes y varios EPs a través de los cuáles han experimentado sin complejos con distintas sonoridades. Con el pop en el centro, han transcurrido por el grunge, la electrónica y el rock consiguiendo un sonido único entre lo luminoso y lo oscuro.
Con un directo arrollador y una química que traspasa el escenario han girado por España, Reino Unido, Austria y Alemania, han teloneado a grandes bandas como Warpaint, The Beach Boys, Nada Surf, Lola Marsh o Sidonie, y han actuado en festivales nacionales como el Vida, el Sonorama Ribera o el Primavera Sound e internacionales como The Great Escape, Reeperbahn Festival, Focus Wales o Waves Vienna.
Con toda esta experiencia acumulada, The Crab Apples se han perfilado como una de las bandas más interesantes del panorama musical nacional y fueron uno de los tres proyectos españoles escogidos en 2023 por el prestigioso programa europeo Keychange, la plataforma nacida en el Reino Unido que lucha por la igualdad en la industria musical dando herramientas y espacios a artistas subrepresentadas.
La banda acaba de publicar Un volantazo, un EP que maximiza su sonido de cuarteto de indie pop-rock y que da comienzo a una nueva era. En su nuevo trabajo sus cuatro instrumentos -voz, guitarra, bajo y batería- suenan sólidos sin necesidad de grandes ornamentos ni elementos ajenos, reivindicando su formato de banda que muestra sin prejuicios ni inseguridades la personalidad, la unidad, la potencia y la conexión de Carla y las Laias, acompañadas siempre por Mauro a la batería.

The Crab Apples is an indie pop-rock band formed by three friends from a town near Barcelona (Spain) who started writing and recording their songs when they were still in high school and have never stopped for over a decade.Being independent and self-managing the band, Carla Gimeno (voice), Laia Alsina (electric guitar), and Laia Martí (bass) have released three albums and several EPs through which they have freely experimented with different sounds. With an overwhelming live performance and a chemistry that transcends the stage, they have toured Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Austria, have opened for great bands such as Warpaint, The Beach Boys, Nada Surf or Lola Marsh, and have performed at festivals such as The Great Escape, Reeperbahn Festival, Primavera Sound, Waves Vienna, Focus Wales, Vida or Sonorama Ribera.
The Crab Apples, with their wealth of experience, have become one of the most captivating bands in the Spanish music industry. In 2023 they were selected as one of the three Spanish projects by Keychange, a UK-based platform that advocates for equity in the music industry by providing tools and spaces to underrepresented female and gender-expansive artists.
The band has just released Un volantazo, a new EP that showcases their four-piece indie pop-rock sound and marks the beginning of a new era for the band. With minimal instrumentation - just their voice, guitar, bass, and drums - the band displays in this new EP an impressive sense of unity, power, and connection.
